Fall=Football, Hunting, and Decorating!

We have had a beautiful warm fall. In fact, trying to decorate with such high temperatures for fall was a task in of itself. 90 degrees is not normal but welcomed since it took so long to get us summer. Jonny started Football this year!!! So excited to watch him play being a 6th grader his field time is limited but he is figuring out the game and tonight is the last one.;( A little sad I am but when one season is over another one is right around the corner. And the next one is Hunting! This will also be his first year of hunting. We can't be more excited! Since its his first year he will be able to hunt 2 days early starting the 20th. And his tags are free! Of course my new love of burlap will be appearing this fall as pendants and possible other things. I will post more soon! Gotta keep up on this blog I'm slacking! Also, for my new nephew burp rags!

Personalized Tumbler

sorry its only doing half the picture I will try and get it fixed!!!

In recents months I won a beautiful personalized tumbler. Well, not only was it a big hit with myself but my twin nieces loved it also. So I decided to make them their own. I found these pink and purple tumblers at OLD NAVY for $5.50 each and of course I already had the vinyl from past cricut projects.

I used white, pink, lime green and pale yellow vinyl
my cricut and the Storybook and the Cricut Samplers Cartridges
and of course the tumblers

I hope you enjoyed one of my latest projects!!!

Birthday Banner!! Happy Birthday Jon!!!

I can't believe my son is now 12. The years have flown by way too quickly. I don't want to blink anymore that’s for sure. His birthday is always fun yet bittersweet for me.

This banner is supper easy and can be done many different ways. For this project I used the following:
~burlap
~vinyl in Red, White, and Blue
~twine
~scrap fabric in Red, White, and Blue
~my cricut to cut out the vinyl
~sewing machine to sew the top with Red Thread of course
~a yarn needle

First, I cut my burlap into pendant style pieces. I used 16 for this project so about a 1/2 to 3/4 of a yard since they are not square. Then I cut the vinyl saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY JON with the cricut. IHeart the cricut!!! I applied the vinyl on the burlap and then I folded the burlap over and sewed a zigzag in red. 1/4 of an inch is perfect so that you can thread the twine thru with the yarn needle. Once the twine is threaded thru I hung the banner up and in-between each piece I tied a red, white, and blue piece of fabric strip. And in-between the fabric strips I tied a piece of twine also.
It will be a banner we use for years and years!

Summer Project! #million+

I can not believe we are almost done with June already. Our Montana weather this year has been rather cold and it feels more like spring than summer. I am not complaining by all means I just look forward to not being cold after our long winters.
Tons of projects have been running through my head. From 4th of July decorations to Fall pendants. But the most important project I have going on this summer is getting my LiveITLoveITCreateIT brand out there. I would like to start my own web based business like etsy and other similar sites. My website would be for crafty housewives who like myself want to feel like we are bringing something to the table. And if all else fails an easy way to earn income.
My reasoning for starting such a site is the label, "displaced housewife." Not may people know what a displaced housewife is, its a term used when a housewife who hasn't work in years due to raising a family is all of a sudden left holding the bag or perhaps homeless with her children. There are many ways to reaching this status but for the most part most displaced housewives are those women who have fallen victim to spousal abuse. They can be forced out of their home with their children due to the fact the home is unsafe. They find themselves hopeless, scared, and homeless. May displaced housewives lack the training for the current job market, there are government programs but many states lack the funds. This makes these mothers lost in the systems.
So to help get the word out and hopefully to prevent more mothers from finding themselves in this position. My goal is start a site to help these women create an income. And in the future us the companies fund to give back to community by training, giving support, and temporary housing to those in need. I have begun the long process of learning how to write for grants.
I truly believe this is my calling in life and your support is greatly appreciated! So if you want to help and have any ideas please share!

Dollar Store Apothecary Style candle holders

Dollar Store Apothecary style candle holder

I have seen this project done tons of time. And every time I have gone into the dollar store I just couldn’t find the right size candle/vase for the top. Well, I finally did. They turned out perfectly. In fact, I do believe the next time I get back I will be buying more so I can make them for gifts. I couldn’t find the epoxy I wanted so I used my hot glue gun instead.
Material needs:
A large candle holder or vase
A small tapered size candle holder
Hot glue and gun.

First, I hate scrubbing price stickers off so I sprayed the bottoms with my 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. (I love this stuff!) Then I washed the pieces and using my hot glue gun I put glue around the top of the smaller candle holder. Last, I placed the smaller one onto the larger one. Hold it for a few seconds and your done. For $2 you can make this beautiful apothecary style candle holder.

April snow showers = Twin girl aprons

I have the cutest two year old twin nieces. I truly wished we lived closer to them so that we could share in their daily lives. I also, have tons of craft projects with them in mind. Like felt foods, so far breakfast for two is done.
First, I hardly ever use store bought patterns. Not because I think I am that wonderful when it comes to sewing, but because frankly I do not have the patience to go find it, buy it, and try and figure out what size I need. So I make my own. So this is 100% me!! I also made them hair bows to match.(Next post) I start chef's hats but my no-patience got in the way.
I purchase 3 yards of the main fabric(which is too much), 1 yard of the coordinating fabric, and brown thread.
I made my patterns for the apron body, the middle tie, the ties for the neck, and a pocket.
I choose to make the neck ties, tie able so that it will fit longer.
For one apron~double it for twins!!
1.) Cut out two apron patterns from the main fabric. My pattern measures about 12 inches wide by 18 inches long. Cut pattern in half to make arm holes match. Sew up both sides and turn right side out.
2.) Cut out two neck ties out of coordinating fabric they each need to be 18.5 inches long by 2 inches wide. Sew each piece separate and turn right side out. sew one end on each. That will be the finished end.
3.) Cut out one belt tie in the coordinating fabric. Measuring 39 inches by 3 inches. sew down the side and turn right side out. Finish each end.
4.) The pocket. Cut out 2 pockets in the coordinating fabric, measuring 3 inches long by 6 inches wide. Sew the bottom and two sides only. Then turn it right side out. Pin together the top and sew together.
5.) I ironed everything at this stage making it all look crisp.
6.) Now all the little things are done. So its time to assemble the apron.
7.) Sew the bottom of the apron.
8.) Sew in the neck ties and the top of the apron.
9.) Sew the pocket on where you want it.
10.) Sew the tie belt on.
11.) Last I iron it again.

There you have it.

Spring Bird's Nest

Easy to make birds nest.

Materials Needed:
Spanish Moss
Small Twigs
Spray Adhesive

A bowl used for shape

First, spray a ball of spanish moss with the spray adhesive. I used Elmer's. Second, form the nest with the help of the bowl. I sprayed it several times adding in more spanish moss and the twigs. Then, give it one last coat of spray adhesive. Last, I sat it in the bowl and let it dry over night.

30 minutes to make 24 hours to dry.

Now it just needs eggs!!

Mini-Etsy Store
